Monday June 1st, 2009 – Former World Champion and promoter Louis Neglia is at it again with the latest installment of New York City’s Premier kickboxing show – Combat at the Capitale, Friday night’s show was non stop action & another standing room only crowd.

It is just a matter of time now before we are all watching MMA at a venue like this, but in the mean time the MMA starved Manhattanites are more then happy to watch the fists fly and the kicks land at the Landmark Capitale.

Another huge 20 bout fight card that did not end until well after midnight, but no one was complaining about that here you actually get your moneys worth.

Highlights of the evening included the one sided drubbing handed out by Giancarlo Vinciguerra against fellow Brooklynite Eddie Fahey. Ed was game but could not match the offensive output that Vinciguerra set. Vinciguerra wins the battle for Brooklyn.

The knock out of the night has to go to Yves Derisier out of Dragon VMA, who put an end to his match with Dean Middlebrook via a roundhouse to th eface that had Middlebrook out cold before he hit the mat at the 40 second mark. of round 1.

TSMMA trooper Melissa Bopp also had an impressive showing by finishing off Cool hearts competitor Casey Bohrman via TKO at 2:20 of round 2.

Local NYC Muay Thai fixture James "B52" Smith caulked up another win on his ling resume of fights but he was clearly the better fighter tonight and seems like he could have ended this bout anytime he wanted to. The bout was called at 36 seconds of round 2 via TKO as his opponent Mike "Fighting Irish" Ryan could not continue due to mummification.

The main event lived up to everyone’s expectations and was the fight of the night with exciting action throughout. Justin Greskiewicz wins via unanimous decision.

During Intermission Lou neglia presented Referee Fred Fitzgerald with a Lifetime Achievement Award after he refereed his 2000th bout. Fred has refereed in six countries and is one of the top Muay Thai referees in the world.
