In addition to being the ultimate in self-defense, students that enroll in the Louis Neglia Martial Arts Academy find martial arts is also an ideal physical culture which promotes the well-balanced development of the entire body. The performance of its many techniques causes the body to bend, twist and stretch in elasticity and strength which benefits not only the muscles, but the heart, lungs and other internal organs as well.
While you are learning Karate, Jiu-Jitsu, and Kickboxing, you will find much more will be gained, self-respect, respect for others, responsibility, self-confidence, modesty, discipline, physical control and mental control — all absolutely essential, and beneficial in your life and career. Train hard and the martial arts will have a positive effect on your whole life, in addition to being a magnificent sport, art, and an outlet for built-up emotions.
Today there are many instructors and schools(Dojos). Choosing a quality school may be a hard decision for the beginning student. Check the background and track record of both the school and the instructor. This is the most crucial step in reaching your full potential as a true Martial Artist. The Martial Arts is an art –you can not, and should not, do it half way. There are big differences in dojos and senseis (instructors).
It's up to you to make the right decision.
— This academy was founded in 1973 in Brooklyn, New York by World Kickboxing Champion Louis Neglia.
— Champions train Champions, Louis Neglia's students have consistently won numerous local and national kickboxing championships and have a overall win record second to none.
When observing an advanced student attack full force, you may get the impression that the Martial Arts is just for athletes. However students form all ages will learn that they can grow to a high level of mental and physical proficiency because the Martial Arts is "private competition" — one competes against himself in striving for the next level of development. Even the most advanced student felt the same way as the first time observer. The difference is the willingness to start, work hard, meet the standards, and in time you will grow to levels beyond your belief. Everyone has the potential to be the best they can be if you are willing to work. Martial Arts teaches the lessons of life — nothing worthwhile comes easy.
Classes divided into separate belt levels for maximum learning at every level. Classes and facilities five days a week. Monthly rates, no contracts (students are not required to pay more than one month tuition at a time). A monthly rate of $100.00 is all you need to start. All classes are taught by Louis Neglia, and assisted by Black Belts certified and under his constant supervision. It takes about twelve months for the average person to gain special skills — to achieve a Black Belt would take committed attendance and diligent practice. Louis Neglia's Martial Arts system continues the best concepts of Karate, Ju Jitsu, and Kickboxing providing the most well-rounded system ever devised. Age, sex or physical condition are not important because in the Martial Arts all blows are directed to the vital areas of your assailant. Students range from six to sixty years of age.
