Lou Neglia's Ring of Combat 30:  Complete Results

Former world kickboxing champion Lou Neglia put on his 30^th Ring of Combat show on June 11, and the event, like always, was a rousing success.   The sellout crowd was thrilled by the action and the fighters left it all in the cage.   In combat sports, that’s as good as it gets.

As a former fighter himself, Lou has a keen insight into the matchmaking process.  He looks at fighters’ styles, records, history of opponents and many other factors in determining who matches with whom.  And that expertise is evident at every Ring of Combat show.   The fights are always competitive and exciting, which is why the ROC is such a popular event, and has thrived where so many other promotions have failed.

In his 30^th outing, Lou pulled out all the stops.  The main event was an explosive championship matchup between Mike Medrano of AMA Fight Club and Ryan LaFlare, Ring of Combat’s 170 pound champion, who trains out of the Bellmore Kickboxing Academy.  Medrano came out gunning and landed some big shots, but  the champ was able to shake them off and land some monster shots of his own, stopping the gutsy Medrano with a knee and punches for the TKO win. 

Ryan LaFlare is going places, possibly even to the UFC.  Lou feels that LaFlare has a great chance of becoming yet another Ring of Combat fighter to join the Ultimate Fighting Championship.  And he should know…an astounding 40 of his ROC fighters have gone on to the UFC, including champions Matt Serra and Frankie Edgar.    The undefeated LaFlare would make excellent addition that very exclusive club.

The rest of the card also delivered as champions were crowned and reputations made.  Some standout names included Uriah Hall, out of Tiger Shulman’s MMA and Edson Barboza, out of the Armory.  These guys destroyed their very worthy opponents, and showed just how deep Lou Neglia’s Ring of Combat talent pool is.
